Special Events

Events for Kids

LEGO NIGHTS! Kids can come to the library every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30pm and develop their mechanical engineering skills by building! For kids 10 and under, some LEGO duplos and blocks will be made available for younger children.

Storytime for kids 10 and under will be held every Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30

Events for Teens

Join us for the Teen Book Club Thursday, July 23 2015 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. This month we will discuss the book "The 5th Wave" By Rick Yancey.

Events for The Family

Please join us for "Body Works" a healthy and fun program that will teach you and your family healthy habits that you can use every day! It will take place on Wednesdays 3:00pm to 5:00pm from July 22nd through September 22nd.

We have some fun events planned at the Leanna Hicks Inkster Public Library this summer.

On Saturday, July 25th, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:30pm everyone is welcome to participate and show off their abilities in the Super Talent Show!

Saturday, August 1st, 2015 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm children ages 7 to13 can join us for some fun activities and experiments with the "Science of Superpowers"

Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at 1:00pm a member from the Fire Department will be coming to do a special family friendly presentation.

Saturday, August 15th, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm teens are invited to our "Craft A Mask" program where we will be creating and decorating superhero/supervillain masks.

On Saturday, August 22nd 2015 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm Inkster Family Literacy Movement invites everyone to the Reading Rally, a fun filled event for the whole family with activities, giveaways, and live entertainment.

Events for Adults

If you want to learn more about computers, come to our Basic Computer Skills Workshop! Subjects covered include setting up e-mail, using windows, creating documents in Word, writing a resume and cover letter, and applying for a job online. It will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday July 11th, Saturday July 18th, Saturday July 25th, and Saturday August 1st. Participants must be able to go to the program on all four dates. Registration is required and may be done by calling the library at (313) 563-2822.

Library Board Meetings Every Third Thursday of the month at 4:00pm and are open to the public.
