Special Events


Events for Kids


Come meet the Fur Angels Saturday, April 18th, 2015 at 10:00am! In the "Reading with the Angels" event the kids will get a therapy dog to sit with them while they practice their reading skills.

Join us for the Smart Money Story Time Program Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at 2:00pm.

Storytime for kids 10 and under will be held every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30

LEGO NIGHTS! Kids can come to the library every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm and develop their mechanical engineering skills by building! For kids 10 and under, some LEGO duplos and blocks will be made available for younger children.

An Inkster Family Literacy Movement representative will be hosting a playgroup for children 5 and under every Monday from 10:30am-12pm! Come enjoy some open play, hear a story and get a snack!

Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to join us for the Pizza Reading Robots. This reading club for kids will take place every third Wednesday of the month.


Events for Teens


The Science Exploration Program is on Thursday, April 2nd and Thursday, April 16th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Oakwood Teen Health Center presents the teen program "Be Proud! Be Responsible!" The program is on Tuesday April 14th, 2015 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

Join us for the Teen Book Club Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 from 5:00pm to 6:00. This month we will discuss the book "This Is What Happy Looks Like" By Jennifer E. Smith.

Join us for "Facing My Giants" presented by the Healing Harvest, Inc. on Wednesday April 29th, 2015 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Join us for Movie Madness Week!!!

Each day we are open Monday, April 6th, 2015 through Saturday, April 11th, 2015 we will be showing a fun movie!

Monday, April 6th the movie "Planes" will show at 1:00p.m.

Tuesday, April 7th the movie "Ender's Game" will show at 1:00p.m.

Wednesday, April 8th the movie "Madagascar" will show at 1:00p.m.

Thursday, April 9th the movie "Hunger Games" will show at 1:00p.m.

Saturday, April 11th the movie "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" will show at 10:00a.m.



Join us in showing our appreciation for volunteers with "Volunteer Celebration" Monday, April 20th, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Join us for "Lyrical Explosion" a fun program filled with poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. Bring your favorite poem or bring one that you have written and would like to share. This fun program will take place Thursday April 30th, 2015 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Join us at the Computer Class held on Wednesday, April 1st at 1:00pm and Wednesday, April 15th at 1:00pm

Book Club is Tuesday, April 7th at 6:30pm. The book is "Motor City Shakedown" by D. E. Johnson.

The Library Budget And Finance Committee Meeting is on Wednesday April 8th at 5:00pm.

Coffee with the Commissioner is held on Monday, April 13th at 1:00pm.

Come learn the basics of financial management at The Financial Literacy Program. It will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday April 15th, Wednesday April 22nd, and Tuesday April 28th.

The Friends of the Library will be meeting on Thursday, April 16th at 6:00pm.

Free advice for Wayne County Residents facing foreclosure! There will be a Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Session at the Inkster Public Library on Monday, April 27th, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Come learn the basics of computers at the Computer Skills Workshop. It will be held at 1:30pm Saturday March 21st, Saturday March 28th, Saturday April 11th, and Saturday April 18th. Participants must be able to go to the program on all four dates. Registration is required and may be done by calling the library at (313) 563-2822 or by emailing dbearre@inksterlibrary.org

Library Board Meetings Every Third Thursday of the month at 4:00pm and are open to the public.
