Special Events


Alex Thomas and Friends an Interactive Puppet Show will be performing at the library on July 15th from 3-4:00pm! Bring the whole family to enjoy this show as their puppet banters with the audience and pick people out of the crowd that may possibly earn prizes!

Storyteller Gwen Lewis returns to the library this summer on Tuesday, July 22nd at 2:00pm with some science theme projects and stories in mind!

The popular and adorable Fur Angels will be coming to the library on Tuesday, July 29th from 2-3:30pm. If your child is skiddish about reading outloud to people and adults, bring them to the library and let them practice on one of these furry friends!

The Michigan Science Center will be coming to the library on Tuesday, August 5th to present the hands-on program "Rocket Science 101" to kids 2nd-8th grade! Space in this program is limited, so please come to the library to register ahead of time!

The library will be holding a BOOK SALE on September 4th from 4-8pm and September 6th from 10am-4pm. Now accepting book donations!

Events for Kids


LEGO NIGHTS! Kids can come to the library EVERY Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm and develop their mechanical engineering skills by building! For kids 10 and under, some LEGO duplos and blocks will be made available for younger children.

An Inkster Family Literacy Movement representative will be hosting "Once Upon a Storytime in Inkster" for children 5 and under Every Monday from 2-3:30pm this summer!Come enjoy some open play with other children, hear a story and get a snack!

Events for Teens


The Teen Book Club will meet on Tuesday, July 29th at 6:00pm to discuss the book "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" by Ransom Riggs and have fun enjoying light refreshments and games. Ask for a copy at the library's circulation desk!

Events for Adults


NEW! The Leanna Hicks Inkster Public Library now has a friends group! If you are interested in helping make the library a better place come to the Library Friends group meeting on July 16th at 2:00pm.

The Senior Brigade will give a presentation on Online Safety on Monday, July 21st at 6:00pm

Health Insurance Assistance will be offered at the library on the following days and times: Thursday July 3 from 12-3:00pm, Monday, July 7th from 3-6:00pm, Thursday, July 17th from 1-4:00pm, Wednesday, July 23rd from 12-3:00pm and Thursday, July 31st from 12-3:00pm.

The Knitting and Crochet Group will continue every fourth Monday of the month! This month it will be meeting on July 28th at 6:00pm. Bring your own needles and supplies, there will be someone there to teach you how!

Adult Computer Classes are now being offered at the library! Join us on Wednesday, July 9th and July 30th from 1-3:00pm

Book Club for Adults: The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 8th at 6:15pm where we will discuss the book ""Still Summer" by Jacklyn Mitchard. Copies now available at the library, ask for a copy to take home at the front desk!

The National African Business Association will be coming to the library to offer Financial Literacy Classes on Tuesdays: July 29th, August 5th, August 19th, August 26th, and September 2nd. Registration now open and a certificate of completion will be given to participants who attend these meetings.

Coffee Hour with the State Representative and County Commissioner, EVERY First Monday of the month at 12:30pm, except in September when it will be held the 2nd Monday of the month, September 8th

Library Board Meetings Every Third Thursday of the month at 4:00pm and are open to the public.
